2666

So, I started 2666, as you guys have probably picked up on by now.

And I am definitely going to stick by that commitment. However, I just realised something. I’m flying to London Saturday night, then home from there Sunday morning. While I would love to use that opportunity to make a kink in 2666, I just can’t carry a book that heavy with me. I’m going to have my laptop and the usual crap that makes my handbags weigh a ton. So I’m going to pack 2666, and take either a light chick-lit (Picoult’s Songs of Humpback the Whale) or the book that I would’ve been reading (Kundera’s Unbearable Lightness of Being). Either way, reading will be done.

Besides, I like round numbers, and if I finish one more book before New Year’s (which, let’s face it, is not going to happen with 2666, I’ll be way too busy being at home after being away so long), I will have read 40 books this year. That just rolls off better than 39.
